Years passed during which Krishna battled the forces of evil and vanquished demons by the score. He had fulfilled everything he had been born on earth to do as an avatar and the time had come for him to depart from earth. As he sat meditating in a jungle, a hunter mistook his foot for that of an animal and shot an arrow which pierced his heel, the one vulnerable spot in his body. As the hunter came near, he was aghast at seeing Krishna and beseeched him for forgiveness. Krishna blessed and pardoned him, saying that this was all preordained and it was not the hunter’s fault. With that Krishna’s spirit and soul rose into the skies. The avatar of the Preserver had returned to his abode.
