Once upon a time, in the heart of India, there lived a very evil king who terrorised his subjects. Acting on his orders, his guards would raid and ravage the houses of the people living in his kingdom and demand taxes far in excess of what they could afford to pay, forcing them to live in abject poverty. Those who resisted were hauled off to the dungeons and tortured till they paid up and anyone who couldn’t pay was executed. It was a time of immense turmoil and the innocent hard working people experienced exceptional distress.
