Being extremely religious, the desperate villagers prayed to the Gods that they had faith in - the all powerful triumvirate of the Creator, the Preserver and the Destroyer - who they believed were the supreme omnipotent controllers of the earth, all life on it and everything that took place in their lives. They petitioned their Gods to save them and free them from the terror of the evil king. The Gods responded by promising them solace only if they redeemed their sins - which have always been a failing of humans - and lived a life without crossing moral and ethical boundaries, something humans have never been successful at achieving. The beleaguered subjects of the evil king agreed to everything the Gods said in an instant and so the Preserver told them that he would be born on earth in his avatar and kill the evil king.
