Ravan’s soldiers on seeing Hanuman, overpowered the mighty monkey and set his tail on fire, but using his formidable strength, the mighty monkey escaped and leapt on top of Ravan’s palace and from there onto the top of the houses in the kingdom, setting them on fire with his tail. Hanuman flew back to the jungle and told Ram what had happened and explained the directions to Ravan’s palace. Ram and his younger step brother immediately geared up to rescue Sita.
