The victorious Ram returned home after being banished in exile for 14 long and trying years. He took his place as the rightful king of his father’s kingdom with Sita by his side. Unfortunately, his subjects again fell prey to false rumours and started gossiping amongst themselves that Sita may not have been faithful to Ram. This was unacceptable to Ram’s principles of dharma as he perceived it his duty to ensure that his subjects’ misgivings were banished.
