Years passed as Ram, Sita and Lakshman lived in exile in the jungle. However trouble was brewing which would disturb their peace and set in motion a series of catastrophic events. A female demon, who was not blessed with good looks, saw Ram and was instantly attracted to him and tried to woo him, but Ram being married and a model of upright character, ignored her. The demon in a fit of rage attacked Sita, but Lakshman intervened with his sword and cut off the demon’s nose. The noseless woman ran screaming to her brother, an evil king named Ravan, who plotted revenge.
