Ravan is believed to have ten heads and on seeing Sita, immediately fell in love with her. At his behest, his servant disguised himself as a deer. Sita on seeing the deer asked Rama to capture it for her. Ever dutiful, Ram sped off after the deer, which then imitated Ram’s voice and called out to Ram’s step brother for help. Lakshman drew a magic protective circle around the hut in which they lived in the forest and instructed Sita not to step out of it and ran off to help Ram.
