Having successfully lured Ram away, Ravan schemed up a dastardly plot and disguised himself as a mendicant. With evil intent, he approached Sita, begging for food, so as to lure her into breaching Lakshman’s magic circle that protected her. Sita, blessed with a compassionate heart, unsuspectingly stepped out of the circle to give Ravan food, at which point he promptly snatched and abducted her, speeding off in his flying chariot with the wailing Sita.
